Bucks for Bowser, cash for Cleo: We raised $665 for the Calgary Humane Society

The Calgary Humane Society is an open-admission shelter. They never say no, they never turn an animal away, and every single healthy and adoptable animal is able to stay until adopted.

The Groggy Sundays are proud to have made the Calgary Humane Society our charity of choice for our recent July 12 show at the Blind Beggar Pub. Thanks to some incredible support from our friends, we raised $665 for the shelter—and last week we delivered the cash to donor engagement coordinator Maja Krol, who was kind enough to take us on a tour of their incredible facility.

The society has its own surgical suite, a separate intake facility for surrendered and rescued pets, outdoor runs for exercise, top-quality veterinarian care, emergency boarding, volunteer opportunities (dog walking, kitty calming, bunny hugging) and a great adoption wing. We saw dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and even a bearded dragon enjoying some rays from a heat lamp.

Calgary is very lucky to have such wonderful caregivers.
